While Dr. Ira spends the majority of his time at McCauley Animal Clinic, he can occasionally be found at New Melle Animal Hospital filling in when one of our veterinarians are gone.

Dr. Ira McCauley graduated from MU Veterinary school in 1995. After graduation he worked as a mixed animal veterinarian in Higginsville, MO. In 1997 he went to work for The Animal Emergency Clinic in Lees Summit, MO as a full-time staff veterinarian, but also performed relief work at numerous hospitals in the Kansas City area. During this time frame, his brother, Aaron, had entered veterinary school and a decision was made that they would endeavor to operate a practice together in the future. In 2000, Ira moved to the St. Louis area and the McCauley brothers purchased New Melle Animal Hospital. In 2001, sister clinic, McCauley Animal Clinic, was opened in Weldon Spring. Dr. Ira enjoys the interaction with clients and pets in both practices. His main area of focus is surgery and sporting dogs. He also owns a water fowling products manufacturing business named MOmarsh, Inc. Dr. Ira lives in Defiance, MO with his wife Kellie. They have 2 sons--Kory and Quinn. They have a mutt, "Trixie", a Dachshund named "Lucy", and Labrador Retriever, "Cash" who loves to retrieve and get into trouble.
