Happy February!
For most people, February brings to mind groundhogs and Cupid’s bows, but for us here at McCauley Animal Clinic/New Melle Animal Hospital, it’s all about Dental Health Month. If you get a whiff of your dog's or cat's bad breath when you lean in to give him or her a Valentine’s Day smooch, you may want to visit our clinic. Dogs need regular dental cleaning to remove plaque and tartar that can cause bad breath. After all, they don't get their teeth brushed daily like we do! In between dental cleanings, help keep your dog’s teeth clean and healthy with a daily ORAVET® dental hygiene chew. ORAVET chews work by removing existing plaque and forms a protective barrier against the bacteria that leads to plaque, tartar and bad breath. Check out the ORAVET website, oravet.com or Facebook page, to learn more. In celebration of National Pet Dental Health Month, we're giving a special gift bag to you and your pet if they are scheduled for a dental procedure in February. If you have any questions about your dog’s oral health care, contact us at mccauleyac@gmail.com or newmelleanimalhospital@gmail.com. We are very excited to announce the addition of innovative K-Laser therapeutic laser to our treatment protocols!
High-power Class IV therapeutic laser by K-Laser is a FDA-cleared therapeutic treatment that manages pain and inflammation while accelerating tissue regeneration. It provides a safe, non-invasive solution for pain management, wound healing and rehabilitation. High-energy laser therapy with the P3 K-Laser safely penetrates deeply into the body to diminish pain and stimulate healing. Laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasm, stiffness and pain. Many pets suffer from chronic pain due to arthritis caused by hip dyspepsia, spondylosis, traumatic injury, etc. Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) provide significant relief from pain, but long-term use of these drugs can have some undesirable effects. In addition, some animals are NSAID-intolerant. Cats are particularly sensitive to some of these medications, so there are fewer pain-management options available for the feline patient. Laser therapy provides a safe solution for them. Laser therapy has also shown very good results when used on dermatological conditions. Traumatized tissue swells less and heals more quickly when treated with a high-powered therapeutic laser. Treatments last about 2-5 minutes per site and are completely comfortable for the patient. Our staff members have been professionally trained to effectively provide laser therapy treatments. They are ready to answer clients’ questions about suitability for their pet’s condition. Clients interested in knowing more can contact us 636-300-0200 or mccauleyac@gmail.com. Additional information about laser therapy can be found at www.k-laser.com or watch this video.
