Pet obesity is on the rise for the fifth straight year. Research conducted by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP) found that approximately 58% of cats and 54% of dogs were overweight or obese in 2015. Obesity-related conditions include arthritis, bladder/urinary tract disease, low thyroid hormone production and diabetes. Nationwide, a provider of pet health insurance, reported that more than $54 million claims were filed in 2014 for conditions and diseases related to pet obesity. Read more...
